Iron Maiden Show They’re Not Fan’s of Lip-Syncing on German TV in ’86 — Video

 

Lip-synced performances for television have been a pretty common occurrence when it comes to some pop and rock acts for decades. However not every band is willing to play along, as you can see in the video clip below of Iron Maiden taking to the stage to perform “Wasted Years.”

Filmed in August of 1986 for German TV show P.I.T., one could have easily guessed that things weren’t going to go quite as expected when singer Bruce Dickinson appears on stage with an inflatable banana, just before going on to grab a guitar from Steve Harris, who himself had already switched instruments with Dave Murray.

This continues throughout their performance, with three band members even getting behind the drum kit simultaneously at one point.

Unfortunately for the shows producers, no amount of cheap overlay effects were able to “cover up” Iron Maiden’s antics, but luckily for us it lives on in this pretty hilarious piece of footage.
